Background

StonCor Africa (Pty) Ltd is the South African operating company for RPM Performance Coatings, which has its head office in New Jersey USA. StonCor companies can be found worldwide and include StonCor Europe, StonCor Middle East, StonCor Canada. 

RPM Incorporated, our multinational holding company, achieved sales of US$5 billion in fiscal 2016.  Shares  of the company’s common stock are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol RPM, and are owned by some 502 institutional investors and 108 000 individuals.

RPM employs approximately 13 000 people worldwide and operates 120 manufacturing facilities in 24 countries, selling products in approximately 150 countries.  StonCor Africa, through the acquisition of Chemrite Coatings and Pro-Struct, have over 45 years of history in South Africa.

Direct marketing to potential clients also occurs.  This includes customer training seminars targeted at specific customers.  The Company also uses trade journals, our website (www.stoncor.co.za) and various brochures and catalogues to promote the products and services offered.

The Sales/Marketing teams are required to generate and disseminate information on market opportunities and on competitors.  This information together with other knowledge gained from the various public sources are used to improve and innovate the services offered.

Pro-Struct

Pro-Struct came into being on 3 March 1971. The founding members combined their chemical backgrounds to create a company to market protective coatings and structural adhesives based on polymers.

Today Pro-Struct offers a comprehensive line of epoxy wall coatings, chemical resistant and non-skid floor coatings, grouting compounds, tank linings, joint sealants, comentitious concrete repair material and waterproofing products.

The Pro-Struct team is able to provide customers with detailed specification including application methods for projects. The technical service department assist with training on site and also runs training workshops at our premises for contracts before installation commences.

Vandex Super Crystalline waterproofing is applied to concrete where the active chemicals combine with the free lime and moisture present in the capillary tract, to form isoluble crystalline complexis.

These crystals block the capillaries and minor shrinkage cracks in the concrete to prevent any further water ingress. However the Vandex layer will still allow the transmission of water vapour through the structure.

Vandex is the worldwide registered trademark for a range of professional construction chemical products for waterproofing, protection and repair of concrete and for building protection.

This unique product is a outstanding rust preventative coating with exceptional adhesion to virtually any substrate.

Noxyde is a water borne coating that dries to leave an extremely tough, flexible (200% elasticity) rust preventative coating that is impermeable to water and highly resistant to salt spray and polluting atmospheres.

Noxyde can be used for protection for virtually all metal work and is especially suitable for the protection of external cladding, roofs, structural steel, tank exteriors, etc.

Universal Sealants

Since 1981, Universal Sealants has been providing various bridge deck expansion joint systems to the civil engineering industry. The bridge expansion joint range of products caters for movements from 20mm to 330mm.

Through StonCor Africa's technical service department, we are able to offer expansion joint detail (specifications) and will review a particular application from initial design to final installation to ensure the selection of the most appropriate and cost-effective solution.

Tradecc

Stoncor Africa markets the PC ® Carbocomp range of laminates that are used to increase the bending strength of structural elements.

These carbon fibre laminates are glued with a structural epoxy adhesive to the concrete surface which needs to be strengthened.  A Uni-Directional (PC ® Carbocomp Uni) with all fibres in a longitudinal direction and a Multi-Directional (PC ® Carbocomp Plus) with fibres situated in the longitudinal  direction with additional fibres at (+-45°, -45°) making it possible to anchor PC ® Carbocomp Plus with bolts onto the structure, which together with the epoxy adhesive, dramatically improves the strength of the system.
